A Town Invited the Interim Storage Facility for Spent Fuel to Avoid Power Failure

Mihama Town (Mihama-cho) in Fukui Prefecture is a 15,224 ha city with a population of 11,600 and a beautiful beach of white sand which was named after. The first nuclear power plant of Kansai Electric Power Co. was constructed and started operation in the town 35 years ago in April 1970. Since then, the second and third power plants have been added, and the town has been developed along with its nuclear power plants. We made an interview with Mayor Jitaro Yamaguchi who is in his second term as mayor of the town.
