Taking Pride in That We Live with Nuclear Fuel Cycle Facilities

Japan promotes peaceful uses of plutonium in its effort to increase the energy efficiency of using uranium for the sake of our energy security. The Rokkasho nuclear fuel reprocessing plant, which is playing such a vital role in establishing the nuclear fuel cycle, is now about to start commercial operation. We talked with Mayor Kenji Furukawa about the current situation and future of Rokkasho village (Rokkasho-mura) that is major base for nuclear fuel cycle facilities in Japan.
