Must Increase the Share of Nuclear Power: Energy Policy in Harmony with Other Countries

The self-sufficiency rate of Japan's primary energy supply is only 4 percent, most of which is hydroelectric, with the remaining 96 percent being dependent on imports. Even if we were to include nuclear electricity in the domestically produced figure, which is generated using imported uranium, the rate will be up to only 16 percent. The rest is entirely imported - from oil (50%), coal (20%) and natural gas (14%).
