DPRK's Nuclear Tests: Not to Further Weaken NPT: China Has Bigger Role at the Critical Edge of Nuclear Non-Proliferation Regime

The Korean Central News Agency reported that North Korea successfully completed their second nuclear test in the morning of May 25, 2009, following the first test of October 9, 2006. Preceding this news, South Korea announced that it had detected an earthquake at P'unggyeri, Kilju gun of Hamgyongbuk-do in the North , the same location as the first nuclear test ground. This earthquake was also sensed by the US Geological Survey (USGS), and the Japanese Meteorological Agency announced that it was of the magnitude of 5.3, and the discharged energy was estimated at four times that of the previous test.
