Mihama Nuclear Emergency Assistance Center Repeats Drills Using Drones and Robots

It has been seven years since March 11, 2011, when the major accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant Accident occurred and shook the entire globe beyond Japan. The plant facilities withstood the earthquake of magnitude 9, but did not the tsunami, which was the major cause of the accident. The Fukushima Daiichi NPP was struck by the massive earthquake and tsunami, of which magnitude was beyond expectations of any earthquake experts. The earthquake and tsunami brought about a catastrophic accident, including hydrogen explosions in the nuclear plant. The events leading to the accident were all taken as lessons and reflected in the stricter new regulatory requirements enforced afterwards, which were subsequently adopted by all nuclear power plants in Japan.
