It has been two and a half years since the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center (WTC) towers and the Pentagon. Since then, the federal government, in conjunction with state and local authorities, has successfully prevented another attack within the borders of this country, but what does the future hold? Will we be able to prevent future acts of terrorism on American soil, or are we destined to endure more tragedies of the magnitude of the collapse of the World Trade Center towers in the years to come? Given the vast size of the United States, and the complexity of our economy, America will likely always be vulnerable to attack by terrorists. Perhaps a more relevant question then is how do we respond to the threat of future terrorism?
