NRC considering improvements in cybersecurity inspection program

With reported cybersecurity threats to US electricity infrastructure onthe rise, NRC is completing cybersecurity inspections of the country'snuclear power plants and reviewing its inspection program for possibleimprovements.Power reactor licensees in 2017 completed implementation ofrequirements of cybersecurity regulations adopted in 2009, BrianHolian, director of NRC's Office of Nuclear Security and IncidentResponse, said during a June 17 public meeting.Agency inspections of licensee cyber security programs have beencompleted at about half of those plants, and all are expected to becompleted by the end of fiscal year 2020, which begins October 1,Holian said.
