The National Nuclear Security Administration will fundamentally alter its compensation system to retain highly regarded personnel and recruit similar individuals, the Energy Department agency said last week. Under a five-year pilot project with the Office of Personnel Management, NNSA will raise salaries based on employee performance rather than on longevity, as is traditional in government service.
