DOe, Beacon Power close $43M deal for new York energy-storage project

A little more than a year after offering a $43-million condi-ntional loan guarantee to energy-storage company Beacon Power, nthe Energy Department last week finalized the deal, throwing nthe financially struggling firm a lifeline for its first-of-its-kind, n20-MW flywheel facility in New York.nThe loan guarantee is just the third that DOE has closed nsince it began issuing them last year; 11 other conditional loan nguarantees have yet to be finalized.
