Small modular nuclear reactors have caught the imagi-nnation of the nuclear industry and the Energy Department nfor their promise of lowering costs, reducing proliferation nrisks and speeding up licensing. But the technology is still nnot ready for prime time, and in two days of discussions last nweek, DOE and the industry made it clear they will do every-nthing they can to make that promise a reality in the coming nyears.
