ERCOT approves 200-MW solar site for commercial operation, more renewables coming

A 200-MW solar plant was approved by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas for commercial operation in October, and another 541.5 MW of solar and 1,024 MW of wind entered the final stages before startup, a new report shows. The solar additions listed in ERCOT’s Generation Interconnection Status Report released late Nov. 2, come on the heels of a nearly doubling of ERCOT’s nameplate solar capacity, to 4.4 GW either in commercial operation or synchronized to the grid, up from 2.3 GW installed at the end of 2019.
