Alterric, a joint venture of Enercon owner AWS and Northwest German utility EWE, is targeting 5 GW onshore wind capacity by 2030, it said March 29. The new company combines existing capacity of 2.3 GW, making it the market leader for onshore wind in Germany, Alterric said. It plans to add at least 200 MW/year with a total investment of Eur4 billion planned through to 2030. Alterric aims to become the leading supplier of green electricity in Germany and France and expand into other countries. It has a project pipeline of 9.4 GW and 200 employees. "The transformation of the energy system is a great opportunity," AWS CEO Heiko Janssen said. AWS is the sole shareholder of turbine maker Enercon, founded 1984 by Wobben and developed from a regional base at Aurich in East Frisia to become a global turbine supplier.
