CM approved, but devil in the detail

With a capacity market law in place early April, Belgium now has secondary legislation to pass. In particular, the parliament needs to clarify how the mechanism is to be paid for. Legislators set this issue aside after discussion in committee showed it to be controversial due to the impact on customer bills. Regulator CREG has estimated the cost at between €614 million and €940 million before deducting savings of €140 million-€250 million to consumers from a drop in energy prices.
