The pace of wind farm development in the ElectricnReliability Council of Texas region appears to have slowednsignificantly this year, because of a combination of soft powernprices, the ongoing credit crisis and — for projects in parts ofnWest Texas, at least — the need for new transmission capacity.nAccording to ERCOT, the amount of wind capacity onlinenin the region increased from 2,875 MW at the end of 2006 ton4,785 MW at the end of 2007, and to 8,005 MW at the endnof 2008.
