Reconstructing Beirut: memory and space in a postwar Arab city

Beirut, a city whose reconstruction after the civil war (1975-1991) has now been studied extensively on a morphological perspective, is here the object of 'an ethnographic study in time, place and memory' (p. 1). This means, for the author, an examination of the relationships the end of the civil war. Uncertainty however, she recalls, is still part of everyday urban experiences in this wounded city that is constantly submitted to violent aggressions.
