Architecture's historical turn - phenomenology and the rise of the postmodern

It is always refreshing to read a piece of architectural history that concerns current issues. Jorge Otero-Pailos's study of American architecture's 'historical turn' is an inspiring example for historical approach to architecture's present condition. Concepts such as 'place-making', 'human experience', 'historical continuity' and 'regional design' are widely used in both education and practice and relate, as the author explains, to the doctrine of architectural phenomenology, which emerged from the mid-twentieth century onwards.
