Restructuring And Redirecting Reliant Energy Entex As Part Of A Diversified Energy Company

Entex, a natural gas distribution company headquartered in Houston, became part of a diversified energy company, now known as Reliant Energy, in August 1996 as the result of a strategic merger. An initiative known as the Distribution Service Enhancement (DSE) project, begun in October 1998 by Reliant Energy, was recently com- pleted. The implementation of this initiative will ultimately result in the restructuring of the Reliant Energy distribution companies in order to reap the rewards of common work processes but doing so in such a way that it does not sacrifice the benefits of local management.
