Seattle Will Host International Gathering of Crystallographers in August

The XVII Congress and General Assembly of the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr) will convene in Seattle on 8 August for its largest meeting ever. The conference, which is held every three years, is being hosted this year by the US National Academy of Sciences—National Research Council, through the agency of the US National Committee for Crystallography. The American Crystal-lographic Association (ACA) is providing administrative support for the meeting. The organizers expect that around 3000 researchers will attend to hear some 650 speakers address 105 microsymposia covering such topics as crystal growth, synchrotron radiation, fiber diffraction, high-pressure work, protein structures, computational modeling, biological macromolecules, organic compounds, material science, surfaces and interfaces, and charge, spin and momentum density.
