PDT in the early 21st Century: A one-day symposium 2005

The efficacy of surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy is well known in oncology and they are generally quoted as being the standard options in cancer treatment. However, progress has been made to introduce other therapeutic modalities and a number of options have emerged over the past 20 years that have not made it to mainstream cancer therapy. Of these, one of the most exciting new developments in the last two decades has been the advent of PDT. The recent symposium "PDT in the early 21st Century" at the Royal Society of Medicine in London, brought together leading exponents of the craft and some 90 delegates f rom the UK and around the world to present some of the established indications of PDT together with the potential uses and ongoing clinical research.
