HSUPA demoed over Live network

Ericsson has carried out what it says is the first demonstration of HSUPA on a commercial WCDMA network. The demonstration in Sweden involved a van moving around a single base station operated by 3, at a maximum distance of several hundred meters. The Swedish vendor used a single prototype terminal "as large as a desktop PC" to access HSUPA-based services, but claims that initial HSUPA-enabled handsets and PC cards will be commercially available in 2H06, with more handsets following in early 2007.
