First OFDM/OFDMA patent license signed by Qualcomm

Granting the first license to its extensive OFDM/OFDMA patent portfolio this month, Qualcomm is already reaping a payoff from its recent purchase of Flarion Technologies. But the IPR powerhouse is coy about its future licensing plans. Qualcomm says that Soma Networks is the first license-holder of its OFDM/OFDMA technologies for use in non-CDMA equipment for subscribers and infrastructure. The patent license enables Soma to develop, manufacture and sell OFDM/OFDMA subscriber units, modem cards and infrastructure equipment.
