TD-SCDMA industry lobbies for harmonized LTE standard

It has been a decade since TD-SCDMA was submitted to the 3GPP and the ITU for consideration as a 3G standard and seven years since the technology received approval.rnSince then, China Mobile has started a 10-city trial, in March 2007, and completed the installation of 18,000 base stations, in September this year, and it is now rolling out the network in 28 more cities.rnThe operator is now upgrading the service to HSDPA and by Sept. 5 had 300,474 TD-SCDMA subs, of which 7,337 were using HSDPA data cards. China Mobile's TD-SCDMA product range includes 39 R4 terminals and seven HSDPA data cards.
