According to figures released by the WiMAX Forum, the number of WiMAX subscribers around the world will increase rapidly as a direct result of the growth in the number of vendors offering WiMAX-certified products (see fig.). It is unusual for a new technology to appear in the market with both infrastructure and devices commercially available and, most importantly, interoperable, but that is what the WiMAX community appears to have achieved.
