摘要

The field of Translation Studies is well known for its propensity to overlap with other areas of knowledge. In Translation and Language Education: Pedagogic approaches explored, Sara Laviosa contributes to this trend and invites the reader to consider translation not only as a product but also as a means for language learning. Her approach drinks from the wells of previous theories that have argued against the idea that language interaction occurs in isolation. Therefore, the author encourages the training of resourceful language professionals who are well aware of the cultural differences expressed by their mother tongue and the foreign languages they learn; a kind of training that seems to be vital in the context of our global era. Laviosa structures the book into nine different chapters, which range from a purely theoretical, historical overview of the matter to a specific, practical proposal for activities that have already been undertaken in the language learning classroom.
