Identity Management and Terrorism

摘要

India is a country with enormous geographic, ethnic, cultural and religious diversity. Such diversity is bound to create multiple challenges to the security of people and assets. As a nation, we share borders with seven countries with distinct ethnicities, have a huge coastline to protect, a varying topography to deal with, across different regions. Within India, we have numerous ethnic races, making it easy for criminals coming from outside to amalgamate with the local populace. All these factors together have made us extremely vulnerable to terrorists. The scenario is compounded by the fact that not only is the modern terrorist using latest weapons, he is also well-trained in using IT to precision. All terror strikes in recent past have shown terrorists hacking into unsecure networks and using them to communicate with their peers for help and for sending threatening mails to security agencies.
