Premier (India) Bearings works from 4 locations in north, Gurgaon, Lud-hiana, Chandigarh and Mundra, and it was very difficult to track the quantity and value of inventory available at these locations. Due to lack of consolidated information in real time, inventory planning was very difficult. Stocks, sales, orders on hand and orders of manufacturers had to be compiled and processed after combining, for each location. Lots of efforts was wasted and lots of excess items were being ordered. Because of non integrated view of the inventory every location was ordering independently without considering stock availability at other locations.
