Marching Towards a Smarter India

The Indian Govt has announced a series of steps towards achieving its ambition to create 100 smart cities across India. So, besides setting aside a Rs 70.6 billion seed money for initiating this project, it is also proactively inviting proposals from foreign and domestic companies that have key stakes in this whole smart city business. Unlike conventional cities that could evolve over the years, a smart city is built by creating an ecosystem that is efficient, liveable and sustainable. However, with numerous stakeholders involved in the immense exercise of building these cities, there is this danger of environmental concerns being sacrificed by those out there to make quick money.
