It is very difficult to replicate the control feedback you will experience in real aircraft. The heaviness and responsiveness of the controls and the effects from turbulence or vibrations from the aircraft itself are almost impossible to reproduce, as these forces vary significantly between different aircraft types. However using a controller that replicates the layout of an aircraft makes a big difference to your flight simming experience and this is no different in the case of helicopters. The Black Lynx does an admirable job of replicating the controls found in real helicopters and reproducing realistic control inputs - giving you a very good level of immersion compared to using a standard joystick and throttle. The controller can also be used for aircraft, for example from the World War Two era, which are fitted with a stick rather than a yoke. However, in this case I found the controllers slightly lighter than I would have preferred and the lack of a centring spring made flying fixed-wing aircraft slightly odd. The rugged design of the Black Lynx should give it years of trouble-free use and provide you a realistic helicopter flight simulation experience for a reasonable price. The movement of the controls is very responsive and while the rudder pivot is on a central bearing, rather than moving backwards and forwards, as is the case in the real thing, it felt natural very quickly and I didn't feel this compromised the level of realism. Finally, the twist throttle and the ability to assign buttons for the fuel cut-off and start button, made it possible to perform realistic start-up and shutdown procedures. For a price of €1,045 (£822 approx) it represents good value for money.
