The CLS-E Stick from Briinner is undeniably a great piece of kit. Its rugged build quality and Swiss Precision make this an engineering work of art. In use, with the right aircraft and with the right profile, it produces the 'feel' of the real thing. The DA62, the Robin DR401 and others make for great GA pilot experiences with this stick. I do not doubt that this stick will be fantastic with DCS as well, especially with one of the combat-style fittings. However, for the Airbus pilot, this may not be the stick for you. Yes, it's entirely possible to produce a highly accurate feel to the stick for Airbus flying by switching off most of the bells and whistles, which in a stick costing €1,749 (£1,580 approx) seems odd. This stick still represents the ultimate for flight sim pilots but unlike the desktop unit, it feels firmly suited to the home cockpit builder market as opposed to the desktop flyer looking for more than what a standard yoke can offer. It's still a good investment if you have a small GA set up but I'm not sure this is the stick for Airbus flyers. What's not in question is how much this stick can change your sim experience. It captures the 'feel' of the real thing so nicely that you'll wonder how you ever flew without it. Combining this with one of Brunner's small-scale motion platforms would be a dream, but for now, the CLS-E Stick is not quite the must-have I hoped it was going to be.
