Top management from several engineering and consulting companies concur with Huotari's opinions on the Russian pulp and paper industry today. Russia is a new strong market area for Poyry. The operative progress is being led by ZAO Giprobum, one of the country's major engineering companies, which Poyry acquired last year. Giprobum has designed the majority of the pulp and paper mills in Russia. Giprobum is currently being integrated into the global Poyry network. Poyry acquired 70 percent of the ZAO Giprobum Engineering shares in July 2007, and the final 30 percent in March 2008. Poyry and Giprobum Engineering joined forces to become the market leader in the forest industry in Russia. The total number of employees is 240.
