Establishment of New JIS Documents for Flat Crush Test Method and Edgewise Crush Test Method for Corrugated Fibreboard

As part of efforts toward compliance with ISO standards, two separate JIS docu- ments for methods of flat crush test and Edgewise crush test for corrugated fibreboard have been introduced. Conventionally, requirements for two crush test methods for corrugated fibreboard, that is, flat and Edgewise, were included in one standard, Flat Crush Test Method and Edgewise Crush Test Method for Corrugated Fibreboard Test (JIS Z 0401). The ISO, on the other hand, establishes two separate standards for these tests. While these tests are common in some degree because they use the same kind of com- pression tester, their measuring methods, strength property and other requirements are different from each other. It was concluded that dealing with these methods in sepa- rate standards would facilitate users and future standard amendment, and thus this amendment was made.
