摘要

The writer, for the past 18 months, visited UK (April, 2007 ; Total PP), Germany (April, 2008 ; Interpack), USA (September 2007 and 2008 ; Sustainable Packaging Forum), and Brazil (September 2008 ; World Packaging Congress) to survey the world trends on sustainability in packaging. This article is just the summary of his overview including carbonfootprint labeling, Wal-Mart's packaging scorecard, TESCO's sustainable packaging initiatives, WRAP'S recommendation to the retailers, and the 20th DuPont Packaging Innovation Awards with its new criteria focusing on packaging sustainability. At the same time, the writer is offering his new scenario "Packaging 2020 Vision" for the future of packaging industry and packages as well.%筆者は，昨年4月から今年9月までの18ヵ 月間に，英国（2007年4月；Total PP展），ドイ ツ（2008年4月；Interpack），米国（2007年9月， 2008年9月；Sustainable Packaging Forum会議， 2008年3月；世界包装界首脳会議）に，視察およ び会議出席のため出かけた。さらにこの原稿 も，9月24～25日に，サンパウロで開催され たブラジル包装協会主催の世界包装会議にス ピーカーとして出席したあとの機内で執筆し ている。
