The recent Propak Cape exhibition afforded Air Products, a leader in the field of industrial gas supply in SA, the opportunity to showcase developments in, and growth of MAP packaging that has seen increasing numbers of packaging suppliers, food manufacturers and resellers take an interest in the company's Freshline gas range. It did so by hosting its 2008 Freshline Congress on October 13, 2008, at the prestigious Radisson Hotel.rnSuppliers were able to showcase the latest offerings in the field of MAP technology - a technology that is advancing at a rapid rate. There were many valuable contributions from users of MAP technology too. For example, Graham Pateras of Pick n Pay Durbanville says that the road to the successful use of MAP is a 'steep and sometimes bumpy path', but that the results - once the systems have been sorted out - make the effort 'eminently worthwhile'.rnIn bringing together 92 key suppliers to, and consumers of, MAP technology, Air Products showed its determination to further the current South African MAP knowledge base. Through the use of MAP packaging, in conjunction with Freshline gases, the opportunities for eliminating wastage of precious foodstuffs and presenting healthier products are immense.
