Record-breaking Machine Makes Debut

The EF400, designed by French Oystar affiliate, Oystar Erca-Formseal, recently made its debut at Emballage. This machine can deep-draw, fill, seal and label up to 46 000 cups per hour - breaking all previous productivity records.rnA rotating, in-mould labelling system comprising four moulds in a 4 x 6 format operates at up to 32 cycles/min. Besides being very fast, this process has the additional benefit of saving material. The lower capital spending and operating costs associated with the new EF400 significantly increase profitability and optimise total cost of ownership.rnOther innovations that were exhibited include the Star Pak aerosol filling and closing machine from Oystar Aerofill-Dawson, Bury St Edmunds, UK; the new SC 5 cartoner and TFS 80-1 tube filler with an output of up to 100 tubes/min from Oystar IWK, Stutensee, Germany; and a tablet press from the Xpress series from Oystar Manesty, based in Liverpool, UK. The latter also presented AccuSpray - a completely new technology for the surface treatment of tablets, which reduces the quantity of magnesium stearate added during the pharmaceutical manufacturing process.
