Using foam and corrugated cardboard, a small Norwegian company is manufacturing safe shipping containers for all kinds of cargo thanks to its EskoArtwork Kongsberg XL cutting table and years of experience handling complicated and fragile content.rnWhen it was considering a Kongsberg table, Berg Emballasje employed only eight people. Now, three years later, 16 people work there, and the company has gained a large number of new customers, while penetrating new markets. Above all, this growth has been a welcome addition to Berg Emballasje's traditional business area - and not a replacement.rnOve Berg, founder and owner of Berg Emballasje, proudly shows off a number of samples from his company, from pink foam inserts to heavy wooden containers, and smartly-designed corrugated cardboard boxes. 'Berg Emballasje creates a variety of custom-made, specialised packaging and prototypes,' he explains. 'By using corrugated paperboard and fibreboard, we are able to reduce the weight of a container by about 25%, compared to that of a similarly-sized wooden box. It means that our customers have lower shipping costs and deal with less waste.' Corrugated cardboard of up to 15mm thickness can support very heavy items and matches up well to wood in dry conditions.
