Ultrasonic bonding comes of age

Ultrasonics is by no means a new technology in industry, the first ultrasonic equipment was first developed early in the 1900's using natural accuring "piezoelectric minerals". Other technology at the time which was also used in ultrasonics was "magnetostrictive technology" in the 1930's to 1940's ceramics were developed for used in the piezo transducers and magnetostrictive took the back seat, an today the man made piezo ceramics are the preferred method of driving ultrasonic transducers.
