Sector pressure to force recycling target changes

The government is expected to reveal some amendments to its proposed business recycling and recovery targets for packaging in early February. John Turner, chair of the Advisory Committee on Packaging, said the targets for some materials might be adjusted after feedback on a Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs consultation. The new targets for steel, aluminium and glass had caused some concern in the industry (see box).
