'Quality' coding for baked products

Two years from date of installation, Quality Bakers Inc., Knoxville, TN, is enjoying high-reliability and crisp coding from its Hitachi PB-260U inkjet printer. The company provides bakery items for institutional and commercial clients, including hoagie and hamburger buns in poly bags from Cana Bag Co. These packaged products previously didn't require coding, Quality Bakers GM John Cardwell explains, because commercial and institutional products didn't need branding or nutritional and tracking information on primary packaging. This changed, Cardwell explains, about two years ago, when the FDA began requiring the bakery to code the buns' immediate packaging.
