People are turning to the food they eat to not only boost their physical well-being but to support their emotional health. This is creating an opportunity for food and drink brands. However, the journey is not smooth sailing, as manufacturers are faced with strict regulations around product messaging and many consumers are skeptical. Although challenges face the development of mood food innovation, people are increasingly turning to the food they consume to manage healthy lifestyles rather than opting for medication and supplements. As awareness grows around the link between diet and mental performance, demand for the mood foods segment is set to increase.
