An eight-color, 41" KBA Rapida 105 full UV press has a new home at TPC Printing & Packaging in Chattanooga, TN. The press will also feature an inline coater and board and plastic packaging capabilities. The press features full automation, including plate changing, full UV capabilities, and the ErgoTronic Color-Control automatic color measuring system from KBA. "The on-going trend in our industry has been to shorter run length jobs," says Joseph A Schmissrauter III, president of TPC Printing & Packaging. "Our challenge is to reduce makeready times and turn jobs around much faster. When we visited the KBA factory in Dresden to test the press, we sent three of our most complicated eight-color jobs to test-run. The press was able to makeready all three in 53 minutes."
