Your flexible packaging press may run packages by the tens or hundreds of thousands but chances are many of them still require additional codes for dates, lot numbers, SKUs, prices, and more. Old-school analog solutions such as hot stamp, hot foil and roller coders work well, but as with every other part of printing, there's a digital way to do the same job. One effective digital approach is thermal transfer overprinting (TTO), a process specifically engineered to work on flexible substrates including those used for flexible packaging. TTO technology is compact and can be used in conjunction with vertical and horizontal form, fill, and seal machines, thermoform and tray-sealing machines and pouch sealing systems.
