Portuguese contract for Azores and Madeira submarine cable to go out to tender by end-2020

The Portuguese Government plans to replace submarine cable interconnections between the mainland and the Azores and Madeira, and is preparing an economic and financial study and a model for contracting the construction. According to a law published in the Diario da Republica on September 30, investment in replacing undersea cables between the mainland and the regions of the Azores and Madeira will amount to EUR 118.9 million, and they should be operational in 2024 and 2025 respectively.
