Dye sensitized solar cells are interesting candidates for providing a renewable, cost efficient energy source with low environmental impact. The lack of a suitable simulation software to study basic cell properties and to optimize the cell topology is currently one of the factors hindering their commercialization. We present in this paper a theoretical model of the entire device based on drift-diffusion equations. The model, implemented within TiberCAD software package, is used to investigate the impact of important parameters of the cell like electron mobility, recombination rate constant and TiO2 roughness on the overall efficiency of the cell.
