摘要

As a consequence of the 2000 presidential election in the United States, there have been a number of studies analyzing voting patterns and outcomes. Here, it is attempted to discuss the performance of voting systems being followed by countries with regard to the election of a candidate or seeking a mandate for the implementation of a proposal, etc. The common assumptions required furthering the understanding of behavior of voters and other electoral regions are reviewed. The implications of adopting specific voting schemes are also studied. The aspects of the 2000 presidential election in the United States from the perspective of these voting schemes are also presented.
