Organization and management in the midst of societal transformation: The People's Republic of China

摘要

To review various research activities related to Chinese management and organizations from the economic reforms perspective. Like any other developing country, China is also thrown open to global market. But continuous changes in the Chinese style of management and organizational set-ups have placed China as one of the top countries. It is discussed that the big scope in the managerial aspects that have come as a result of Chinese ongoing reforms has been motivating researchers to get on to the pros and cons of the Chinese way of management and organizational changes. This can be evidenced from a record publication of articles related to Chinese management and organizations. In this regard, it is attempted to describe the nine such papers that have appeared in the special issue of Organizational Science journal. It is observed that these papers have dealt with the details on how massive corporate transformation in China has impacted various business activities.
