The personal computer and entrepreneurship

摘要

To explore the relationship between computer ownership and entrepreneurship. Developments over the past two decades have been supporting the hypothesis that there is a positive relationship between home PC ownership and entrepreneurship at the individual level. This is strengthened by the observations of this study on probit and bivariate probit regressions providing evidence of a strong positive relationship between PC ownership and entrepreneurship among women, but only limited evidence for men. Estimates from CPS also indicate that entrepreneurs who own PCs create a larger variety of types of businesses and not only those in the IT industry.
