Quantifying fairness in queuing systems: Principles, approaches and applicability

Fairness in public queues is important in the broader context of the prevailing conception of social justice at large. A distinction between fairness of the queue and fairness in the queuing system at large is provided with special reference to banks, super markets, public offices, computer systems and call centers with due weightings for: conformity, granularity at individual and scenario levels and intuitive appeal and rationality.
