摘要

Human capital is a key tangible and intangible resource which provides sustainable competitive advantage for firms, particularly in the IT services industry. The research work, set in the context of Indian IT services industry, has tried to examine whether continuing training investments yield any measurable performance benefits to the employees. Based on a detailed five year archival training and performance data of 8,000 employees from a leading Indian global IT services firm, the research work has tried to measure the aggregate effect of training on employee performance and other nuanced aspects of human capital theory. The key characteristics of the data and the econometric analysis have been done in an elaborate fashion and the key findings along with the managerial implications have been discussed.
