The current issue of Open Systems & Information Dynamics consists of a selection of original research papers presented during the 44 Symposium on Mathematical Physics, "New Developments in the Theory of Open Quantum Systems" held on June 20-24, 2012, at the Institute of Physics, Nicolaus Copernicus University, in Torun, Poland. The programme of the conference consisted of 38 talks and 46 poster presentations.
