DIALOG on the Net: KR ScienceBase

KR ScienceBase for the World Wide Web is the first product in Knight-Ridder's new line of intuitive search tools. It gives working scientists quick and easy research capability at their desktops, using an Internet connection and a UNIX, Macintosh, or Windows workstation. KR ScienceBase lets end-users quickly retrieve high-quality, focused, and relatively complete information from selected DIALOG databases. This user-friendly tool can obtain information on publications, meetings and conferences, chemical and biomedical research, research on the physical sciences, competitor activities, rules and regulations, inventors and scientists, patents, science news, and many other topics. ScienceBase uses the friendly (and familiar to many scientists) World Wide Web interface. The recommended browser is Netscape Navigator (Version 1.1 or higher). If you use Netscape Navigator, passwords, search requests, and other information are protected by server security features. You merely point and click on online menus to select a search topic and create a search request. Due to editorial lead time, this first look at KR ScienceBase is based on a late beta version of the product. The final version of KR ScienceBase is scheduled for release during the first quarter of 1996.
